SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT: Cathedral Catholic Elementary School
Children of families of all faiths and origins are welcomed into the cathedral, and each child thrives in their care and love.
In recognition of their welcome to all, the school was the first elementary school in Lancaster to receive the School of Sanctuary award.
However, the welcome offered by the school does not stop at its doors. Students, their families and staff work together throughout the year to reach out to others in the region and to support national and international charities, inspired by their mission to bring God’s love to others.
The staff work hard to provide a broad, relevant, creative and engaging curriculum so that students are eager to learn and improve.
In March 2020, Ofsted acknowledged that classrooms are quiet and that “everyone is appreciated for their uniqueness”. They also mentioned the many learning opportunities beyond lessons, including clubs and choirs, and visits to theaters, galleries and places of worship.
Students in Key Stage 2 also benefit from a variety of residential tours, including a retreat in Keswick, outdoor adventure activities in Borwick and a visit to Liverpool.
Part of The Cathedral School’s success is due to the commitment and support of the Governors and Parents who work tirelessly with the Principal and staff to ensure that the best start in life is given to every student.
